Songwriters & Singers of the Brill Building at the Holmdel Library
May 21 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
The tidal wave of music that shaped American youth culture in the 1950s and ‘60s flowed from a skyscraper in midtown Manhattan. Experience “The Brill Building Sound” with pop culture historian Jimmy Scalia.
In this program, Scalia, the official Bobby Darin Archivist, will showcase many of the talented musicians, singers and songwriters who filled the corridors of the building with driving rock and smooth ballads that spread musical magic around the world.
He’ll share stories of legendary performers including Bobby Darin, Carole King, Neil Sedaka, the Drifters, the Monkees, Tony Orlando & Dawn, and also of prolific songwriters such as Mike Stoller and Doc Pomus.
Join us at the Holmdel Library on May 21 at 2pm and ride the wave of music with us!
